Thank you for making it clear that it is essential to move away from fossil fuels in order to ensure political ability to act.

    2. Qatar can get fcked.
Always playing both ends of every game and trying to act innocent and dignified.

      >The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, which entered into force in July, allows for fines of up to 5 percent of a company’s annual global revenue if the management fails to address adverse human rights or environmental impacts.

Europe really needs to stop pushing for human rights outside our Union. We’re still dependent on fossil fuels, and we don’t have that many options anymore.

I’ve always found it annoying that Europe is bringing this up in countries where they obviously don’t care about it. It’s not our job to change them. If they want to wipe their asses with human rights, then that’s their choice. It’s not our job to change it. Bitching about it, only pisses them off. And they have leverage over us, because we need their gas.

Also, bitching about it, without having any hard power to back it up, is pretty useless. No one cares if you can’t enforce what you preach.

Human rights *in* the EU, yes. Outside of it, not our problem. Stop poking and stoking, EU.

We need to drop these fuckers at the next opportunity.

It’s simple: the rule of gold. He, who has the gold, rules.

They would fuck themselves, too, wouldn’t they? Usually the seller needs the buyer just as much as the buyer needs the seller.

We better should make a deal with USA to replace russian Gaz on a short term, even if it means dealing with Trump.

Then mets embargo them with everything we have and see who cracks first.

I kind of agree with him tbh. The EU is very hypocritical giving hundreds of millions of Euros to these countries, knowing there are severe human rights issues there and then trying to fine them for it. Either buy it and be okay with it or just don’t. We have to stop making ourselves dependent on countries that aren’t compatible with our values. I thought we learned from Russia…

If the U.S. was right about one thing it’s that energy independence is a national security issue.

Europe should have focused on nuclear and renewable energy a long time ago, to reduce it’s dependence on shitty countries like Russia and others. Uranium can be found anywhere.

    12. A lot of feisty comments in this thread. Let’s see what happens, but my bet would be that we’ll get in line and do what these people (Qatar, Trump etc) tell us to do in order to keep the gas coming. We’ve messed up, and are now paying the price for it.
