One of my best mates I served with is a triple amputee and I see how hard he has had to work to gain any semblance of normality in his life. Yet he handled it all with such grace. It helped that his family, both his wife and kid and his mother and father and siblings, were with him through everything.
His positivity and their support got him as far as he’s gotten today, which is great, but young men and women shouldn’t have to learn how to walk again, or how to shower or dress themselves again, or relearn any activities of daily living again. It’s not fair and it’s not natural. All because someone desires more control and more of an illusion of power.
I’m happy this warrior was taken care of by the Protez Foundation, but would it not be best to have no more amputees that the foundation has to support? That would be even better.
But yeah… and the other comment said… fuck Russia.
