The Azerbaijani Airlines plane that crashed on Dec. 25 en route to Russia may have been shot down by a Russian surface-to-air missile, according to reports from independent Russian media outlets.
The aircraft, carrying passengers from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Russia’s Chechen Republic, crashed near the coastal city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.
Footage of the plane shows traces of a large surface-to-air missile impact on the tail section of the plane, according to Russian independent media outlet Meduza. Similar-looking holes in the fuselage have reportedly been documented in numerous images and videos of military and civilian aircraft downed by surface-to-air missiles.
Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) initially claimed that the plane collided with a flock of birds, prompting the pilot to attempt an emergency landing. During the maneuver, the aircraft “hit the ground.”

We’ll find out in the coming days if Russia shot it down or not thanks to how Russia deals with the investigation. If Russia sabotages it or tries to close it quickly we’ll know it was shot down.
Some of the pictures do indeed clearly show that debris penetrated the plane’s hull from the outside, but I’m not gonna act like I’m some airplane crash expert who knows that can only happen from an anti-air missile. Maybe indeed if a bird/group of birds flew into an engine, the engine could break to an extend where debris from it flies off into the hull?

No it fucking didn’t. I have no love for Russia but there’s a clear video of the plane being fully intact struggling to land.
If it was a missile, the thing would blow up in the sky, or at least part of it. Not just leave some pebble-sized micro-holes in the tail which might have been there to begin with because shitty maintenance.
Don’t get me wrong, Russia does a lot of shit – but blaming everything in it will just backfire in the long-run.

Just as I’m about to fly from Dubai to St. Petersburg. Just hope my flight won’t get canceled.

This Embraer E190 is a really solid plane. It’s a miracle to have survivors after shrapnel damage.

May have? Really? Like the never done it before? There’s a video with wreckage of the tail stabilisers full of shrapnel holes.

There are like dozens of survivors right? They would have heard/felt it if theyd been targeted by a missile.
