      Russians in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast receive one million rubles (about $10,000) for the birth of each child they have, starting from next year, amid the country’s sinking birth rate.

      Governor Gleb Nikitin’s announcement was reported in the Institute for the Study of War (ISW)’s Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment on Tuesday.

      Russia’s current birth rate is 1.5 children per woman, and a birth rate of 2.1 children per woman is needed to sustain a population.

      It makes little sense to pay people to have kids.

      I’m sorry to say, but Russia has no hope or future left. It’s completely done for. A true tragedy for a country that could have been a multi-trillion dollar economy.

      Then again, Russia has been the way it has been for 300+ years.

      Now they take the word trollfarms literally. Even if this would be enough to raise a kid halfways through childhood in russia, how big is the chance they pay out this money to everyone?

      Well it would take that amount of money to travel to France or something to be treated for infertility so it makes sense

      Europe should step in and offer Russian families 1.5 million rubles to **not** have children.

      We can solve the Russian problem in a generation or so.

      10k not enough for all the fuss of having a kid in that country, or honestly anywhere in the world nowadays.

      I wonder tho, will the woman also recive the same money if she just gives the child up for Adoption? Because if that is the case you can clearly become a full time breeding machine as the average income is around 1,3 million a year. Just give birth every 9 months and you earn around the same as someone working full time…

      I assume Russia is going to start doing this once Putin stops focusing on decreasing Russian population.
