Shows just how much can change in 10 years. What’s the saying? People over estimate what changes in a year but underestimate how much can change in 10.

So, this is proportional, meaning that if say Japan increases its spending and the rest stay flat, their proportion goes down? Would be better with a graph of either ”share of gdp” or something else that is in mor absolute terms. In this graph everyone could have increased their R&D but China and US more than others.

The US outspending the rest pretty much. Europe have to come closer to their spending to compete properly. The question is how you would double total spend on R&D continent wide. If China continue to spend as well they will just compete more and more in European core industries as well.
Because the checksums for both the one I uploaded to [Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/usRTDLG.png) and this one are the same: 74fa63226d0bf3254aa6d877b9089795
If they were separate, independent screenshots, they wouldn’t have the same checksums.

Please, [r/europe](https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/s/lM2DfIAeKi), can we add the UK to these posts. 😥
This is only top 2000 investments? So there might be a significant amount of smaller investments that would add up that are not counted here?
If you wonder why the US stock market continues to outperform the rest of the world this is one data point why.
In real numbers, the US spends 800 billion per year on R&D, China 600 billion, and the EU 250 billion.
OP, is there a reason why you took the image that [I took](https://old.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/1hn6qhj/eu_companies_top_us_and_china_counterparts_in_rd/m3zoo5j/?context=3) and reposted it without attribution?
For everyone, out of the loop, I took the screenshot of this figure, which came from this [this report](https://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/bitstream/JRC140129/JRC140129_01.pdf). Now, just about anyone can take a picture of the above figure and post it but the exact one that OP posted was made by me. How do I know?
