Hello r/Slovakia! Sorry in advance for the English language message here.

My great-grandparents were Slovak, and I am trying to find out where their hometowns were. They left when Slovakia was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, but they were very proud of being Slovak and involved in Slovak things in my country, and spoke Slovak. Their surnames were Strom/Sztrom and Sabo/Szabo, in case that helps!

I found their marriage certificate from right after they arrived. Can you possibly identify what the towns listed on here are? Link: **https://imgur.com/a/1CtpeBr**I am hoping someone may recognize the town names or at least have a good guess!

I know the spelling of many cities changed over time, and had names in different languages. Also it’s possible the person writing the certificate was not a speaker of Slovak or Hungarian, so they may be misspelled.

      Thanks in advance!

The first one could be Tvrdošín, not sure about the second one.

My best guess is Tvrdošovce. In the past it was part of Hungary. It’s Hungarian name is Tardoskedd.

The first place is Tvrdošyna, Hungary, so today’s Tvrdošín. But the second one is quite hard. I know why you blurred the names and such, but it would give more clues about the writing.
