    1. I think there is no best socket. But in the end maybe green.

NO brown. ..the socket is smiling 🙂

BS 1363 : probably the only good thing the UK ever did for Ireland.

    3. Objectively, type F (the green one). Subjectively, also type F.

Might be an unpopular opinion but orange is safe, fits in any orientation and is the less bulky of all of them. I don’t understand why people prefer the green one tbf.

Although being a Slovak, I must advocate for the green one. The plug is widely used and can be turned upside-down which ours is not capable of.

I become as patriotic as an American in Alabama when defending the UK plug sockets

      Denmark without a doubt!

Look how happy it looks 🙂

the brown one is the best. i don’t care about some objective characteristics and this smart scientific shit, the brown one is happy 😀 and thats why it wins

    9. Newer buildings in Italy are being increasingly fitted with type F “Schuko” plugs. Almost all appliances sold in Italy in recent (~20) years come with a type F plug.

      Type G gang.

Although I’m weirdly fond of Type I, which isn’t here in Europe, but it’s very satisfying.

    11. I dont care, whay arent they the same? EU do some good for f saker

Type F and Type L allow for rotating the plug 180 degrees, which is a benefit. Type F is also apparently the most widespread and from experience it’s a very solid design. So IMO it’s the Type F/Schuko.

      Edit: It’s the green one.

I’m from schuko country but like the Swiss one more, small footprint, earthed, can’t be reversed (So it’s possible to know where L and N are) and compatible to euro

That’s kinda wrong though. Italy actually uses both the green and the orange sockets combined into one. And obviously the sockets are compatible with every kind of plug like the phone chargers. BTW, if an outlet is full of green sockets you could put half of them compared to the orange one. And if all you have is light power hungry electronics actually the orange set is better for that purpose.

Purple, the safest. Individual fuse, Only works one way round. The earth pin engages first and opens the socket for the live and neutral pins that are shrouded at the plug end to prevent physical contact between mains and person. But Europe don’t like the UK any more, it’s still the best plug. Sorry.

Can I use my “green” phone charger in the other types of sockets? Surely not in UK but what about the others?

I’m changing some of my IE house sockets from UK 3 pin to Schuko .
As time goes on I will be buying more and more from EU electrical companies so it makes sense to start now.
They are a direct fit to the metal and plastic wall boxes so it’s very easy to change over .

    18. Whats the difference between blue and brown? Is it only the shape of the ground pin? If so, can a compatible plug be created?

    19. 2202andreas on

Why are we like this, why did we have to be different in Denmark

    20. Low_Expression7337 on

Blue is like an upgrade of Green. I think is somekind of protection for kids.

    21. 7_11_Nation_Army on

Most importantly, green works everywhere else but UK, right?

    22. Why are there so many different types in Europe? With all of them so close you would think a standard would have hit.
