Tiraspol is not moldovas main city. It is in Transnistria, the russian puppet region that wants to be separate from moldova
So will russia find a way to Support their “Friends” in transnistria or will they drop them as they did with Assad?
That territory should be blockaded from both sides and their black hole will disappear from the map without war

So now the waiting game until Transnistria collapeses?
Seems insane that they had no plan beyond “dress warmly, gather family members together in a single room, hang blankets or thick curtains over windows”
“A company employee told Reuters by phone that she did not know how long the situation would last.”
From people from the area, are we talking about days, months or years until things go completly to shit?
Ukraine cut the supply. Their contract with Russia to allow transit of gas through pipelines across Ukraine has ended and they did not renew.
Everyone knew this was going to happen. ~~Slovenia~~ Slovakia, Hungry, Transnistria.
If they didn’t make arrangements prior then that’s on them.
So they do not have a Sheriff gas supply company there?
The whole place is complicated. Its main employer (Sheriff) s gigantic and literally everywhere. They strangely mainly import from Ukraine.
I spend 6 months living in that area and documenting the place till war broke out. Sheriff is everything and everywhere. There are also no real jobs there. Most people just ‘work in europe’, illegally in some supermarket or other shitty job on their tourist visa for 3 months, and then come back and survive with their family for a few months, spending money in Sheriff grocery stores and getting gasoline in Sheriff gas stations.
A few years some person tried to open another grocery store, but it … didn’t last long… lets just keep it like that.
Actual gas + electricity was (almost) free for the people due to russian gas. The main ‘goverment’ obtained a lot of money from selling it to Moldova and crypto mining (commission’s). Now that this is gone – I think it’s going to collapse. This was the money holding the power together, knowing the area, they aren’t known for being big savers – so yeah. People will leave as its winter and fucking cold. Many already left or were trying to leave for years, but couldn’t due to being reliant on Russian pensions.
in case anyone is still reading, [here’s the article](https://joelgugler.com/sheriff/)
Maia Sandu
> In a meeting on Moldova’s energy situation, we reviewed our preparedness.
> The right bank, free from Russian gas since 2022, is secured for winter, while efforts continue to ensure uninterrupted electricity. For the left bank, humanitarian aid is being coordinated with partners.

Excellent governance, keep up the good work, lmfao
The story of this gas pipeline is shocking. Just goes to show you can predict nothing.
Russia has been supplying gas *via Ukraine* through years of war. A war where multiple *nuclear* energy plants have been fought over. Russia has heavily targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Ukraine has targeted Russia’s energy resources. Ukraine’s energy-poor allies have sanctioned Russian energy.
But somehow… this *voluntary* commercial arrangement has persevered. Payments presumably made to all parties on time and in good order.
What a weird world.
