Recently we fundraised to help the trainers of 3rd Assault Brigade continue a program to train soldiers to use shotgungs to take down FPV drones. We successfully raised $1500 which they are using to purchase training ammunition and clay pigeons so that soldiers get plenty of practice before deploying.
FPV drones are one of the biggest threats on the battlefield but they are hard to combat. Drone jammers are expensive, sometimes are not effective, and have a limited range of coverage. Shotguns can be an effective alternative.
This video is Chris, one of 3rd Assault Brigade’s trainers, working with Ukrainian soldiers while using a translator. It gives you some of an idea of what their training is like.
Trainers with 3rd Assault Brigade are crucial to Ukraine’s success. They are military veterans who fought in Ukraine themselves and now use their skills to train other soldiers. Their expertise is invaluable. However trainers do not receive combat pay and spend a big portion of their own pay on supplies they need for their jobs. You can help them in two ways.
1. Sign up as a “Supplies Donor” on the website at [protectavolunteer.com](http://protectavolunteer.com); one soldier we have waiting for a sponsor saw extensive combat in Ukraine but is now moving to an instructing role. He would be very appreciative of anyone who can help him supplement the pay he will be losing (the difference is going from around $3,000 per month to $500).
2. You can donate to 3rd Assault Brigade on the paypal at [protectavolunteer.com](http://protectavolunteer.com); this fund is used by instructors with 3AB to get what their students need. This year that has included scopes, training ammunition, and fuel and vehicle repairs for vehicles.
Great stuff. Semi-auto shotguns are the way to go against FPVs. Tungsten ammo seems also reasonable for max range.
Edit: semi-auto
Never seen a semi-auto bullpup shotgun before. Nice design.
Wouldnt it help training clay pigeon shooting?
