Se vi siete mai chiesti che tipo di pane la gente non toccherebbe con un palo di una chiatta di tre metri anche nel mezzo di acquisti dettati dal panico, il mistero è risolto.

“Connells?! I’d rather hammer raisins into a slice of Brennans with a mallet.”
A damning indictment.

Funny enough it was exactly the same at the start of the pandemic, when I went into my local Centra. Everything down to fecking pop tarts was gone, but not fruit loaf.

it’s those calm steadfast fruit loaf eaters that keep this country ticking over.

My local SuperValu had loads of standard white brennans. All of the brown was out of town.

Actual fact… Place these in a toaster and slather in real butter and you’ll get rid of them quick enough.

I gotta be honest, I like them for breakfast with a cup of tea/coffee.

Yesterday in the supermarket showed me one of the few perks of being coeliac… still so much gluten free bread left while people fought over regular Brennans…! (Yes it’s not as nice and yes it’s 4 times more expensive, but I’m trying to make myself feel better about it for once lads)

Fruit loafs are lovely.
They weren’t bought because they aren’t bread.

Which is weird because butter on fruit bread even toasted is really nice and tasty and filling… If course the little darling can’t have the ham and cheese or cheese toasties on fruit bread.. you can have jam though.. I’d buy fruit bread without complaint but like most bread it does go a bit mouldy if you do nit have space in the freezer for long term storage .

Who are they still making that for? Oh wait…people like my parents. God bless their simple tastes.
