Country is absolutely beautiful but holy shit did we experience too many weird encounters…

The “railway station” by the airport. Uhm…just don’t use it.

The aggressive beggar in (IN) the restaurant that staff refused to handle.

The bus driver multitasking (phone, cig, driving, tinkering with the window, all at once) on mountain roads (90% of the country, basically) where a bad turn can have permanent consequences.

The supermarket (not a mom and pop store or a hole in the wall kind of place) in Cetinje analysing a 50€ note for five minutes before accepting it. Is the fourth largest note of the euro really that uncommon or counterfeited there?

The absurd amount of trash at the confluence of Morača and Ribnica rivers…fridges, toilet seats…ffs it is such a beautiful river 150 meters away…why…

A disproportionately small airport that should long have been expanded to address peak and shoulder season, only allowing to go through security like 30m prior to boarding.

I think all globetrotters have a specific country which everyone loves except them. Well, I don’t have a strong opinion on Montenegro…and I am willing to visit it again. But boy, it’s like everything had a tiny asterisk to it when we were there. We will see in a few years how much things will have changed.
