It’s quite obvious, to many leaders that Putin has pushed his military beyond the brink.
He sent his men into a meat grinder, time and time again.
Losing thousands of troops and equipment a day, trying to maintain his forward push, without success.
Everyone is coming to the realization that the mighty Russian military, is running out of steam.
Ya there is definitely a time limit on Russia’s war. If Ukraine’s allies were dedicated then Russia’s defeat would be inevitable.
He is ruling over a population of serfs with a medieval mindset. Sadly, Putin can fight on and on and on. Just got to keep killing Russians till he runs out.
Basically either sustain the war or economy, but not both.
Individuals can be “delusional”.
With organizations like governments and corporations, the delusion is caused by many people at different levels fudging just a little, until by the time the information reaches the top, it is wildly inaccurate.
At the lowest level maintenance and logistics personnel at a given facility report how many tanks are in perfect working order, how many are need maintenance, and how many are flat out inoperable.
– But no one wants to get in trouble, especially in Russia, so they fudge the numbers a little.
– The report the flows up through various officers to the battalion commander, who also doesn’t want to look bad, so he fudges a little more.
– By the time the readiness review reaches Putin, the numbers are drastically inflated.
Putin bullied everyone into telling him what he wanted to hear, and unsurprisingly the invasion went very badly for Russia.
It’s a cautionary tale. This sort of optimistic distortion happens in all organizations, but western countries tend to be more transparent, the the distortion is less extreme. It does happen in though.
IF the West (read mainly the US) had given all Ukraine needed from day 1 Ukraine would have won by now BUT there is a non-negiable risk that moscovia would have resorted to nukes OR attacked a Nato country and therefore starting a hot ww3 (imo we are in a cold ww3 atm) that also could have led to nuclear war.
It might be by design that Ukraine have only been given the bear minimum to defend itself, a so called boiling frog scenario where moscovia is slowly cocked to death (sadly at the cost of Ukrainian lives).
As it stands now “the 2nd strongest armed forces in the world” would get it’s teeth kicked in by Finland alone if they tried to attack them and the “mighty russian empire” is heading towards an economic, industrial and demographic collapse…and so far we have avoided nukes flying.
The Russians have proven to be willfully delusional about many things.
At the same time, if the Russians have deluded themselves to think that they can sustain their war for ten more years, instead of a plausible two years, for example, we still need to keep the focus on the Ukrainians’ interest first and determine what they need to decisively cave in the Horde of Muscovy’s јаw in those two (or maybe ten) years.
After a certain point, the civilized world does a disservice to Ukrainians by finding a way to re-frame discussion and policy using the Russians’ point of view as the starting point. Ukrainian victory must take priority rather than a mere Russian loss or to put it another way: revel in the outcomes of the Ukrainians’ victory rather than fret over the consequences of the Russians’ loss.
Who cares if the Russians including their rampaging hordes lose decisively (and maybe even experience their oh-so-precious “homeland” collapse like a Сhіnggіѕіd khanate of old) when Russians have been getting away with openly devastating and depriving Ukrainians and other non-Russians? The repeated appeasement and accommodation of the Russians’ need for ~~survival~~ imperialism have been a big reason we’re now watching in real-time how they can crowd out “Never Again!” with “**We Can Do It Again!**” ([Можем повторить!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pobedobesie#Propaganda_and_Putin)).
