The only news here is that the Independent thinks that it is newsworthy that an ex Z-lister thinks they can argue with a scientist about the weather. By the Indo’s own reporting, 25,000 people have no water supplies right now – who gives a rat’s arse what Rory ‘literally who’ Cowan has to say about anything?

Rory Cowan is a fucking dose. And now obviously pig ignorant too. I mean ffs there was a woman on the radio there whose kid had to brought to their kidney dialysis by the army due to the weather conditions and the impassibility of the roads by ordinary vehicles.

Notwithstanding that, and absolutely not having a pop at Met Éireann here, the media absolutely do sensationalise weather warnings and bad forecasts in their chase for clicks, as do many eejits on social media.

Met Eireann: “There’s going to be a lot of ice and freezing temperatures. Be aware.”

I as a Dubliner wish to convey my sincere apologies to the rest of the country for this complete bellend, it is gobshites like Rory who believe Ireland starts and ends in Dublin that give the rest of us Dubliners a bad reputation.

I unlike Rory here, watch the news and have seen how bad this weather is affecting people leaving them with no water, no heat and no way to cook and feel utterly sympathetic towards my fellow Irish people and the hardships they have to endure currently. I know how lucky we are in Dublin to not be snowed in. I am warmed by the news stories of neighbours helping neighbours and communities rallying together to make sure everyone is safe and well at this time

I feel our weather forecasters in Met Éireann do a fantastic job and Joanna Donnelly in particular is a respected meteorologist who does an excellent job keeping us all up-to-date on our current weather expectancies and issues correct warnings. We all understand apart from Rory, just how difficult predicting the weather can be.

It’s “cool” to moan about RTE at the moment and anything linked with them
