Air defense is important, using Russian frozen Russian assets, makes the purchase a little less painful for Ukraine.
It’s ironic to be considering using Russian Frozen assets, Ukraine wouldn’t need it, if Putin has stayed out of their sovereign country to begin with.
SAMP/T systems firing Aster missiles are a major part of Ukraine’s defences. France just announced delivery of another 1200 of them, and they’re nearly as capable as Patriot missiles.
They’re also 100% European, which may become important.
