Maybe a high percentage would favor a 1.5 : 1 ratio. They weren’t asked.
I never once have ever met a pollster and no one I spoke to on the topic of polls has met one either. The newspapers that commission the poles seem to know what articles they want to write and pull to set up purposely with only selective groups chosen to give them the responses necessary to back up their claims.
I would be very cynical about the veracity of the claims here.
The country needs infrastructure, the metrolink will never happen at least not in its current form. Legal challenges will ensure that.
Neither this article nor the Indo article it links to actually states the question and answers used to come to this conclusion, which is always suspicious. Anyone have access to the survey results?

We spent the last 7 decades spending almost all our transport money on roads , and all it achieved is , more cars , a million cars on the road and most people wouldn’t walk 100 yards to grab milk . No matter how much space we allow for cars they still park on footpaths in disabled spaces on yellow lines . Basically anywhere they feel like.
Fore they’re nothing but litter that stain our streets and we need to really work about clearing out our towns and cities

With AI and automated driving just around the corner, big spending on public transport is a terrible idea.
Wonder what that majority is weighted on amount of tax you pay in vs amount yu take out.
