Un tribunale tedesco ha vietato ad un supermercato di vendere un prodotto come "Cioccolato di Dubai," stabilendo che il dolce di tendenza può essere etichettato come tale solo se proviene effettivamente dall’Emirato.
La corte ha stabilito che il supermercato discount Aldi non poteva più vendere i suoi "Cioccolato fatto a mano di Alyan Dubai" poiché il prodotto in questione lo era effettivamente prodotto in Turchia
Aldi ha sostenuto che ciò era chiarito sull’etichetta sul retroma la corte ha concluso che il nome del prodotto potrebbe indurre i consumatori ad assumere "che il prodotto è effettivamente prodotto a Dubai e importato in Germania."
Dannatamente giusto!

I didnt think Dubai chocolate was protected by a special location of origin designation (like Turkish cofee or Turkish Delight)

What exactly is good about that? Asking genuinely. Like the only two consequences I can envision right now are 1. those who actually import from Dubai being rewarded, and 2. the rest having to change their packaging to say “Dubai-style” instead of Dubai, and neither of these consequences seems like great win to me?
Glad they’ve clarified this; now they can call it Schokolade Dubaier Art or something 🤭 This remainds me so much of an old yet famous scene from a Tamil movie.
