    1. They’ll place the blame on NATO and possibly intentional act to deny citizens the web.

”It hurt itself in its confusion!”

Should be the tagline for all of Russia really.

Honestly, I don’t know why we allow them to access the western internet space. Just cut them off entirely.

This is fantastic! Everyone loves when karma delivers!

They call it an “incorrect updating of TSPU systems” in russian news. Hope it’s serious and costly.

Edit: According to Moscow Times, the reason for the outage is a fault in their censorship-kit:

      >The collapse of the Internet in Russia on January 14, which became the second major failure of the RuNet since the beginning of the year, was caused by problems with technical means of countering threats (TSPU) of Roskomnadzor and the Main Radio Frequency Center, a source in one of the operators told Vedomosti. According to him, the specific reason was a set of extensions to the DNS protocol – DNSSEC, designed to guarantee the reliability of data when accessing a particular resource. Thanks to it, in the .ru domain zone the possibility of IP address substitution as a result of attacks is eliminated.

How many Russians does it take to screw in a light bulb…

    6. I thought Ukraine hit their internet hard yesterday could this be that?

    7. Responsible-Baby-551 on

I just read earlier today that the Ukrainian hacking team took it down deleted files etc it was from anonymous on Bluesky

    8. I saw that Anonymous posted on Bluesky claiming to have disabled a major internet provider that apparently effected basically everyone. Is this related to that?

Well no doubt dragging anchors across the ocean floor would backfire at some point. I suppose they’re trying to splice a log in there now with a big hammer to fix it.

Or, it was Western forces that severed that cable and then made it look like the Russians were that stupid. Double whammy. Either way, FAFO.

their lack of access should be very telling forsocial media bots. unless they are Elon enabled.

I wish this were truly incompetent, but my bet is they are cutting off outside sources of information deliberately. If it is incompetence that is also freaking hilarious too.

Maybe they did get the “right” one. Harder to organise protest and rebellion without communication devices

    14. vergorli on

Thats a all great and funny, but srsly, NATO needs to shut down that nonsense in the baltic sea.

    15. Bruh they knocked out Steam man. Can’t have shit in Russia…

    16. Nature_Dweller on

I wonder….if they did it deliberately. Maybe we have dome people over there who are on our side? One can hope.

I think this was actually done by the Ukraine and then this is more or less a troll post saying the Russians did it! Brilliant work

Reports of a coup on here an hour ago…now the internet is down?

    19. Fit-Bookkeeper9775 on

Could also be a planned move to isolate Ruzzia from the rest of the western World

Oh my god steam is down? Maybe I could finally play a game of CS without racist toxic asshole Russians in my game.
