It’s quite astonishing really. A lot of peoples situations have deteriorated over the last 5 years in terms of paying higher rent and the cost of living and yet the electorate returned an even *worse* government than the last one. You couldn’t make it up.
I find it hard to see much progressive policy coming out this coalition, given its composition – I’ll wait for the Programme for Government, but I’m not very hopeful at all unfortunately

Can’t believe people wasted their time on this election. We’re just going to have the same scenario as the last 5, FG and FF sharing power and bending us, the people, over a barrel like their predecessors did for decades. Country is fucked and we’re all fucked too.

What is a super Junior minister?
Is there any policy commitments that have already been made public at all? Beyond extending the housing schemes that haven’t been enough for years? The housing supports mentioned in the article sound absolutely atrocious. Like, expanding the First Home scheme to second homes?! That’s one of the worst ideas for fixing the housing crisis I’ve ever heard.
Deliberate Housing (and thus Homeless) crises are not policies that are compatible with democracy – not only do they indirectly disenfranchise citizens, they are a breach of human rights, as well as harming the health of and eventually killing citizens who fall victim to these crises.
Whatever social contract there was is gone and dead for the victims of this – and in fighting against these deliberate crises, victims of it should not feel bound by any political, social or legal standards – as they are all ripped up along with the social contract.
If you’re stuck as a victim of either of these crises, it’s pretty much a matter of life or death – one missed payment or two away from it for many – and people should start treating it as such, as fucking around with a broken political system once every 5 years clearly isn’t working.
