Completely agree with him here – the 2:1 ratio has been massively influential in the tangible improvements to public transport during the lifetime of the previous government (which culminated in public transport usage rising [12% year-on-year](https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/its-thanks-a-million-from-nta-as-passenger-numbers-surge-to-a-new-high)).
From both a carbon emissions and modal share point-of-view, I think backsliding on the ratio in favour of road construction would be a mistake, and not the way we should be going about ensuring new roads get built.
If only we had a green policy focused party that wouldn’t be punished for doing their best to get green policies implemented

FF are only reflecting what the people voted for. SF/FF/FG/Independents got 70%+ of the vote on a platform that doesn’t want to do much to impact our level of carbon emissions.
Roads need serious attention as well as public transport. Cars aren’t going anywhere sorry to tell you. 2:1 is so shortsighted and insane. Our climate is shit for cycling. Fix the damn roads!!
Yer lads had the helm for five years right alongside the “centre-rights”, and we’ve seen what gumming the road improvement works does to road deaths. The public voted with this in mind.

The Greens had a narrow window of opportunity to survive.
After the worst referendum defeat in the history of the State, they could have sacked O’Gorman for deliberately lying to the public over the implications of the proposed changes being enacted.
They chose to make him their leader instead.
What the fuck has LA for to do with us. GTFO.
You have to carry people with you. Forcing policies on the population that have very little support is no way to get things done – you have to build the support first, then implement the policies. If you’re going to claim to be “Green” the priority is to get things done – the German Greens are a good example of a modern Green party.
