Doesn’t seem to be translated properly on iPhones. Guess that makes sense given China is 99%+ Android or similar devices.

      >RedNote’s Chinese name, Xiaohongshu, translates to Little Red Book, but the app says it is not a reference to Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong’s book of quotations with the same name.

      Hmmm…

*”I personally only like reddit, google, firefox, facayB, twatter and a few other sites sharing my data and selling it on to third parities for marketing and profit”*

      Jesus Christ.

I mean, I get that the TikTok ban is being largely pushed through by Meta and others, but the willingness young people have to install Chinese government spyware on their phones is mental.

So from one Chinese app to to another?

      Lol. What’s the point.

Irish youth handing over personal data to the Chinese government in exchange for cat and dance mini videos ~ I would say housing may not be the biggest issue in this country, education is.

How about stop using this shit altogether? The world would be a better place if people stepped back from this crap

It’s terrible that the youth these days are branching out like this, where’s the loyalty to American spyware gone? Smh

It’s great that in the USA this platform which is implicated in political shenanigans could be owned by er Elon Musk 👀

We didn’t even get rid of tiktok and here we are already advertising new garbage…. First time i hear about this. Would be great not to give it publicity tho

US bans TikTok over “concern” it is a front for Chinese data mining.

People move to to a directly Chinese app

    12. jaywastaken on

Fair enough for the Americans to be doing it out of spite but sure not like it’s being banned here.

Moving to a Chinese app to avoid censorship is not something I’d thought I’d ever see.

If I ever have a bad day, and I’m feeling mediocre I come to Reddit to remind myself that the reason I limit social media is because it eats your intelligence, reasoning ability and the ability to critically think. Hindering your ability to form a real world perspective without being herded into the “group” mentality. Tik tok is a cesspool 90% of the time anyway. But so are the rest really. As for Zuckerberg- I don’t like him or trust him but people can change their opinions when they see a failure of leadership or maybe he was led up the garden path so to speak? Also, you all have a chip on your shoulder with Elon Musk.. have you read anything about him or at least researched facts or is it all Social Media or Shit news jobs? There’s bigger issues than social media, but heaven forbid the world gets in a twist over anything that isn’t “let’s take a side”. It’s been so long since I’ve met someone with an ounce of wisdom that can avoid a side and have a healthy conversation without hatred spewing. Let all the wee google users use a Chinese app… because let’s face it if you are using google and social media and everything else your sold anyway – you sign to declare it every time. When’s the last time anyone seen a government that was actually for its own people ??
