Looks like something modern, not a great value I guess.

A traditional Slovak Valaška Shepherd’s Axe head. Yours is a decorative version featuring a Juraj Jánošík coin imbedded in it. Get a handle for it and put it on display.

Jánošík was a “zbojník”, a highwayman in early 1700s, later romanticized by literature into a national hero. I guess it’s similar to Hajduk, but may differ in some specifics. According to the legends, he stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Although from what we know, the reality was not as romantic.

While serbian hajduks usually attacked ottoman forces and were something like guerrilla freedom fighters, Juraj Jánošík was a former soldier, who joined a robber/highwayman band who robbed and sometimes killed. The legends say, that he robbed from rich and gave money to poor, like Robin Hood. He was captured and hanged by his rib (meaning a big hook was drove into his ribcage and he was hang up on that hook.
