Was talking to a taxi driver on the way home yesterday about this.
It would be nice to see but I don’t see it making any real impact. Not only will we have to pay another wage, I believe it will lead to even MORE trouble when it comes down to the transport police having no power.
Kids and scumbags are just going to make fools out of them. Could we probably call it a “transport punching bag”?
I’d love to know how they are going to do this, considering they can’t even increase the number of Gardai.
They should first create dedicated public transport
Mirror it off or just expand the Airport Police Service to cover new modes.
This would be a very welcome public service by the vast majority of people

Going to be honest, why don’t we just have armed army guards the way a lot of mainland europe does. I would feel a lot more comfortable with a show of force around than not. This ‘little darlings had a hard life’ shit is not sustainable lol
I’ll believe it when I see it. Criminals have more rights in this country than law abiding citizens and those Irish Council for Civil Liberties gobshites will be in overdrive this morning blocking this.
They’ve already gone back on their election promise of extra Garda but sure just tack on an entire new police force altogether to the list of promises that will be broken.

I’m all for it but getting people to sign up for it will not be easy. Who wants to work for a small wage, potentially dangerous job and be abused daily?
The only reason I can think of for them doing this, is to get people to pay their luas fare. Don’t believe for a second its for the publics saftey.
