This is after Russia years ago pressured Armenia to keep the new(ish) Iran-Armenia gas pipeline diameter narrow, so they wouldn’t have as much competition with Iranian gas.

And now they have to build a whole new pipeline rather than use the existing ones in Georgia/Armenia. Of course they are no doubt happy to bypass Armenia, based on their recent treatment and comments about Armenia.
