I’m not sure how I feel about this , it’s more than teachers struggling for accommodation. Is there similar for nurses,doctors, emergency services? If so- good, if not why not?
What about many other essential professions?
They have to do this in Monaco. Great sign that it’s being introduced in Ireland.
Is this their attempt at admitting that there is no teacher shortage? It’s just the same housing shortage that is effecting everyone else. Why would someone teach in Dublin when they could earn the same money outside of the pale and put less of it towards accommodation.
Bigger issue here is the long-term financial viability of Cost Rental developments. They barely wash their face.
This is absolute bullshit why do teachers get special preferences? Most of them work about 25 hours a week, they have so much extra time to earn more money and get on the property ladder.
I wonder how many people who were incensed at Ryanair buying those houses in Swords will support this.
