Nearly one-third of Tesla owners in the Netherlands are considering selling their vehicles due to controversies surrounding Elon Musk, according to a new survey by EenVandaag. The study, which included over 26,000 panel members, found that 40 percent of Tesla drivers feel embarrassed to own the electric vehicle brand because of Musk’s behavior.

The survey included responses from 432 Tesla owners or lessees. Of those, 31 percent are either contemplating selling their car or have already done so.

The bigger issue Tesla will have is not people trying to actively dispose of their cars, but a major slump in sales of new ones. If 30% are considering ditching the brand, a lot more will just never consider buying one in the first place.

I’d say a lot of people are put off the brand, and also EV owners are more likely to be motivated by environmental choices, so are likely more the ethically driven part of the market too.

What about not voting for politicians who suck up to him and his ilk?

We need creatives that offer a Tesla Demusk kit.

My dad was thinking on getting a Tesla because his neighboor had one too. After I’ve shown him the POS that Elon Musk is, not only did he change his mind but he now also laughs at how gullible his neighboor is. Can’t make this shit up. 😂

    6. So less than one third ”consider” it? I’d like to only how many would. My guess is close to zero. My identity and my use of goods and services isn’t politically tied. And I believe it’s not for the majority of consumers.

The other 7 have realized that the price of a used Tesla of about 2 years have lost about 50% of their Market value so they can’t sell and will stick with them until the next time they buy a car

    8. allanmoller on

Have put mine on the market, sad because i actually liked the car. Was also planning to keep buying Tesla 😞

I have had a Model 3 for 6 years. It’s been a great car, loved it. It is time to turn it over, I was going to just get another one, but now I will choose something else, he is too much of a cunt to be in any way associated to

    10. I’m expecting the next step to happen soon, that people actively start sabotaging Teslas.

Pretty sure Tesla owners also see this coming, so they take the opportunity to get rid of their car.

That’s nice. It’s just that if third of owners put their Tesla for sale, that’s gonna crash the price and I am not sure that we are at that point where people would be willing to lose money over how much they (rightfully) hate that p.o.s Musk.

Well let’s wait and see what the actual statistics say in a year from now. My prediction MY best selling car in the world and NL. Followed by the M3. I get the distaste for elon but to people think the same for starlink or spacex? He is so hands off right now especially with his multiple companies and political ambitions. Tesla had moved on as it has grown into the behemoth it is.

I’ll not be selling my Tesla…….I won’t buy it in the first place.

    14. Noodleholz on

I don’t believe it until they actually do it. It sounds like cheap political activism.

    15. The fun thing is, at least in Italy, those who are against the electric cars are the same closer to Trump and climate change denials.

Who knows how this will turn in their twisted minds, it will be interesting.

    16. BascharAl-Assad on

So 3 in 10 only *consider* it and 7 in 10 will keep their car.

Not even 1 in 10 will take the financial loss in the thousands by selling their perfectly fine, newish car. So what’s the news here?

    17. chucky-krueger on

I’m sure they’ll do it as much as the people considering sticking up with going to the gym on January 1st.

    18. Huskerzfan on

I make no other decision in my life based on the CEO of the company.

    19. RMCPhoto on

This is dumb… It’s only because Tesla ownership was basically a cult-like club in the first place. So, now they just want to quit the cult by selling it to a new cult member or someone who doesn’t consider politics when picking a car…but fuel economy, repair costs, and more practical aspects.

To me, it sounds like a good time to buy a Tesla according to market dynamics. If this is true, then the market will be flooded and the prices driven down by competition.

    20. 3 in 10is low, didn’t he just shout MEGA (make Europe great again)?

    21. orangewurst on

Have a Tesla knowing it depreciates significantly and fast. At that time before this douchebag went full on magaturd, it was just the most economical choice we had and the charging infrastructure of Tesla was just so much better. As much as my partner and I are so embarrassed about having a Tesla I think we will keep it until we are ready to buy another EV, no more Tesla. Gonna print some stickers to disassociate ourselves with this POS just in case

    22. NekoCatSidhe on

That was to be expected. The people buying electric cars tend to be ecologists, and ecologists tend to be hardline leftists as well. By allying with Trump, Musk pissed off his own customer base. I expect a big slump in Tesla sales in the coming years as a result.

It is interesting in a way. I never liked Musk, but I never expected him to be that stupid. Whatever he expects to obtain by licking Trump’s arse, it will hardly compensate for the money he is going to lose when people stop buying Tesla cars. But maybe he believes that he is now too big to fail.

    23. OmegaMordred on

The other 7 have their heads up their ass or even worse, his ass.

Don’t buy a sticker, sell the damn car.

    24. hhoeflin on

And of all the people that weren’t asked plenty will realize there are soon cheap teslas to be had. For tesla it is mir about ne car sales.

    25. I have one on a work place salary sacrifice scheme. Once the contract ends in 2 1/2 years, I’ll hand it back and go for something else. The car has been great to be honest but the association is now embarrassing and I’m ashamed to tell people I have it. I’ll go to someone else unless they change CEO

What a bunch of cry babies. Quite embarrassing.
