North Korea is called the Hermit State for a reason.

There is no internet, no foreign press. Hairstyles have to be government approved. Punishment for offences against the state are ‘three generations’. So if one family member is found guilty, parents, children, & grandchildren are imprisoned or sent to labor camps.

They are also taught they are racially superior, calling themselves the ‘cleanest race’ which is fairly ironic considering even the well-fed soldiers have parasitic worm infestations.

I’m not surprised they have no idea where they are or who they are fighting.

I asked in another post. Are they worried about those NK soldiers attacking from within? Or plants? They are in Kyiv.

I wonder if what intel he has matches with what NK defectors have said in the past.

There is no disadvantage which bad guys care about for keeping your troops low-information and preferably entirely cut off from unofficial contact especially with an uncensored world. Yes, it can decrease their trust in you and lack of situational awareness especially to the extreme of not even realizing basic stuff like your location or enemy or even being at war at all. But, those countries have low grade poorly trained soldiers generally and they weren’t likely to degrade much throwing that on top of the usual NK or RF poor deployment and tactics.

The advantages are legion. If they do communicate with anybody or get captured, they cant tell them anything detailed. They dont know to be scared or when to desert as they dont even know where they are or that they might be thrown into combat or when. A motivated human wave guy just there to illuminate a position with his life will see bullets stopped just as well by the unmotivated guy who thought they were rolling up on Taco Bell. Briefly.

It sickens me that the republics have not done whatever it takes to be able to send ground troops and air forces period but especially once the NK intervened. Amend charters, dunno. A commitment of mass nato air power able to strike over the border would have rolled back the Russians. Yeah yeah nukes. A Russia willing to use nuclear threats to expand and commit genocide without interference will be more dangerous if it is allowed to do so in this instance-and they would not use them. Russia, even hobbled by losses and sanctions, is a clear and present danger to the fundamental safety of Europe and the world economy and on the ground, factually, it must seem as if Europe and the US cower behind semantics to the Russians who cannot believe their luck. And the other dictators are watching intently.

It’s a hermit country, but they DID know whom they were fighting against. They probably were lied to about who Ukrainians are and why Moscow was invading Ukraine, but these are just excuses. Don’t fall for it.
