Deal with our domestic Nazis, if you know one treat them how they should be treated.

    2. SinisterCheese on

Should, but wont. Why? Because they’ll just use Trump to punish Ukraine if we do, or put up tariffs which would hurt the export based economy that we have. And European leaders, CEOs, and Financial institutions are deadly afraid of actually funding small companies that could develop new things, products and services, maybe some money to kickstart them, but then they are on their own at the crucial point when they’d most need help (expanding across EU and to international markets).

Our incompetent CEOs and leaders have driven us to this situation with their incompetence, and expecting them to get us out of it is in my opinion foolish. Start to tax the wealthy and American corporations, then push that money to grass roots development to get the economy going.

Establish a European Pentagon filled with military leaders, engineers, researchers, economists, lawyers, diplomats, historians. Charter it with taking a risk assessment of what we need to ensure our military and economic security. Then fund the things it suggests.

Certainly not by banning encryption. The post below this is literally titled “Europol chief calls on tech giants to unlock encrypted messages”.

if you don’t delete X in the next 24h you’re part of the problem

Regulate social media, and if they fail to comply, ban them. Doing so will create space for European social media platforms to fill the gap, and tada, you will weaken the outsiders and strengthen Europe. Same goes for foreign software giants and other such companies.

Now is the time to show teeth and use such opportunities to spur internal growth.

With Metas censoring of #democrat and other Trump opposing hashtags it has become a direct threat to the coming elections in Europe, especially in Germany. If this isn’t headline news we are doomed.

We can’t even agree on corporate tax, which city parliament should be or use the same currency.

it will be up to each and every one of us to not give them what they want.
      ourselves. as customers.
      uninstall meta and X.

    10. Banning nazis and nazis products would be a start.

Investing in european alternatives would be other.

Deleted Xitter when well known nazi Elon Musk bought it.
Now with the Meta CEO on the front seat on a Nazi rally, I deleted FB and Insta. Do not forget all the other CEO’s and your country far right representatives that attended the Nazi rally.

It’s OK to punch a nazi.

Understand that it highlights how most billionaires think. Money over anything; they are truly psychopath people who have no political views. They could be Maoist communists in four years if the president were of that political view.

And if you think the market is better, look at tesla overnight.

The whole of EU should be using Linux at this point but there’s no way bureaucratic boomers in all those meaningless offices would be able to make the switch, and our worthless, decrepit politicians probably have no idea Linux even exists. This is without getting into all the social media thing. Cut off the head of the snake first (Microsoft, Google) and work from there. Sadly, our governing structures are incompetent an this will never happen.

    15. Fucking lmao at the notion in the comments that any EU alternative to social media will ever be created. Nothing of scale is created here. Our market for tech is basically non-existent, with the exception of a couple legacy corporations that are just resting on their laurels. And those will also eventually lose to american or chinese competitors.

    16. Honestly, I’d say: deregulate the market and push innovations. Stop interior wars between countries and just push forward together. US is afraid of that, they want Europe divided and at the same time they heavily rely on European brain-drain.

    17. MacHayward on

How? Just make sure X and Meta (Meta, IG, FB) are not available in Europe. Then online block Amazon but give people a 1 month notice to finish or cancel orders.

      Excellent proofreading there, euobserver.

Italy has just decided to have a personal contract with Elon and Trump keeping out the rest of EU.

Ban this, ban that. What does it solve long term?

EU needs to step up in the tech game. Don’t let the unicorns move to US to find better funding. Collaborate to innovate.

As a Canadian, I am seeing how this man loved to meddle in our countries politics further stroking divide. Please don’t allow him to do this to your country.

Why does he need to be involved with everything? No one elected this man yet he is acting like a president. It’s very odd! Please stay vigilant.

How can the EU stand up without a thriving big tech sector of its own? What’s their play here? Ban all American social media platforms (*cough* reddit included)? Block American tech entirely? That would backfire. Europe would likely take a bigger hit than the US. So… what’s their move?
