Robbery, It wasn’t long ago that you’d get a Guinness for under €5 bn.

someone will buy it, reduce the quality with cheaper ingredients , move manufacturing abroad, but thats progress…

I know I’ll be downvoted for this but at heart I’m a romanticist and I’d love for us to buy this and nationalise Guinness for the common good of every Irish woman, man and child. In 2023 Guinness profit generated 2.5 billion euros. It would be a handy little social dividend for the Irish people to receive every year – roughly around 500 euros in our bank accounts annually.

If we all club together say €100 each. We will be able to afford a barrel.

Diageo is a spirits company that just happens to own the most famous beer in the world.

I presume they consider selling it or separating it from the rest of the portfolio regularly.

      Private equity enters the room.
Strip the assets, cut jobs, more manufacturing abroad, luxury apartments at James Gate.

    9. €2.5 billion profit per year and selling for only 4 times that, seems to be a stupid sell but a good buy.

Apparently they’re going to sell off about $7 billion of it first, let things settle a while, then sell the remaining $3 billion.

Ah fuck lads once she’s sold the quality will drop. They’ve already dropped it in Australia, outsourced to a brewing place there and according to the Australians the new stuff made there is rotten.

Have a whip round to save the price of a proper pint?

    13. Maybe Pernod Ricard might be tempted, seen as they already have a foot in Ireland. Granted it’s in the whiskey business but they would be large enough to afford it.

It’ll be sold, St James’ gate will close. Brewing will go to abroad or Nigeria will become the only brewery. That’ll be the end of it.

Lads, we’ve been wondering what to do with the apple money. There’s no way this can lose.

If it goes up for sale some private equity outfit will buy it and fuck it up.

ah so that’s what the whole splitting the G thing was about (gaining publicity and upping the price before spinning it off)
