Thursday: Why doesn’t Europe have popular dotcoms which attract billions of users?

Friday: All companies must end anonymity on the internet. Everybody’s ID must be checked, like buying a gun. And the relentless pursuit of clicks, retweets, engagement is *bad*. Companies must share their algorithms. And so on…

    2. It was all fine and dandy when the likes of Twitter were run by liberals and had a left wing bias.

The establishment are clearly panicked they’re losing the ability to control information and narratives.

Ending anonymity online? No thanks. Having a few online spaces where you have to prove you’re a human being in a nontraceable way, which also prevents the creation of multiple accounts? I’d actually like to try that out.

      > We have lost control of the creature we’ve used to manufacture public opinion for 20 years so now we demand it be shut down because it’s kind of inconvenient

its the usual uninformed horse shit.

None of these social media software applications are designed to be that secure

It would also make it much easier for marketing companies to track what we do.

Much easier tracking leads to much easier targeting of ads this could lead to something like brexit where you send different ads to different groups of people based on what will change their mind on a particular issue

No. So you spy on everyone more easily?
Whining about 1984 China or Russia but pulling this stunt.

This genius is just fueling the fantasy of persecution of the self-proclaimed “champions of free-speech”.

      No thanks.

I frankly think verified accounts should be a more common thing, but only optional. Having a verified account should come with perks like being able to have a profile photo or even a name. Unverified accounts should be very obvious with that blank photo and a number instead of a name. This way, the distinction between the two would be very clear, and bots and other propaganda accounts would have much less credibility.

Perhaps still be a anonumous but with an id so we don’t only talk with Bots…

I’ve been for that for years. Anonymity is awful and makes people far worse than they otherwise would be.

Terible idea. The thing that needs to be regulated is pay raises, especially in political things, data harvesting, bots, moderation rules for hate speech and things of that nature. Declaring the end of anonymity means giving immense power to these corporations and to governments that are complicit in them.

Huh, maybe this world economic forum doesnt have the will of the people as their top priority?

Mark my words, the EU will regulate itself back into the Middle Ages.

The longest angriest thread I ever saw on internet was when the WoW forums said they were going to remove autonomy and force everyone to post with actual ID, it was over 1000 *pages* of comments

He tried the same with the “pajaporte” I think, and that shit didn’t work xdd

when the remedy is deadlier than the sickness.
It smells of bs just like the post twin towers obsession with increasing controls at the expense of privacy.
I’m starting to think that at least some EU politicians are secretly plotting with the US to create another wave of fear of an “invisible enemy” so that people willingly renounce to another bunch of their privacy.
Dude, you can NOT take our privacy away just because there are idiots who let themselves be easily manipulated by some AI generated social media account.
At the end, you’ll be helping the US in their mapping and stealing of data.
