Hi all,

Posting to introduce **sudanahye,** the Sudanese-Armenian Heritage Project, a multimedia research project documenting the history of the Sudanese-Armenian community. 

For over a century, Sudan was home to a vibrant Armenian community, many of whom arrived as refugee from the Genocide. They built churches, schools, and businesses, becoming an integral part of Sudanese society while maintaining their Armenian identity. 

However, with the ongoing war in Sudan (2023–), the community has largely dispersed, and its cultural heritage is at risk of being lost.

The project will establish an oral history and photographic archive to:

📜 **Document** the history of the community, develop an Armenian lens with which to view Sudanese history and a Sudanese-Armenian perspective on the Armenian diaspora experience

🏛️ **Preserve** the heritage and culture of the Sudanese Armenians community

🎨 **Inspire** art that re-imagines the community within contemporary social and cultural Sudanese contexts
