u/Giraffe_25th’s car broke down a couple weeks ago. Coolant was leaking, he said. “Don’t think it’s a major thing,” he said.
The next day, he showed me the list of parts it needed. The list is 9.5 cm / 3.75” long on my computer monitor. So much for his blithe confidence that it wasn’t a major thing.
Car repairs aren’t sexy, but they are fundamental. For example, Giraffe and his guys need this car for things like getting to and from position, picking up drones, and—for some reason—moving wood around. So we paid to get it fixed.
Your donations got them back in motion. Thank you for that.
One of the first things he did was pick up these two diesel heaters that your donations also bought, as part of the mammoth fundraiser we did earlier this month.
So! Thanks to you, Giraffe and his guys can get to and fro, and be reasonably comfortable once they get there. Or to one of the theres, at least.
Car repairs aren’t just unsexy and fundamental. They’re also ine-freaking-scapable. I have another team right now waiting to find out if their Cherokee needs a new transmission (help), and I see at least two car repair requests per week in the various aid group chats I’m part of. I know one guy who breaks every car he touches.
To help us say “That’s okay, little buddy, we’ll help you out” when someone gives us the sad puppy dog eyes and tells us their car broke:
