      Isn’t it the other way around? America is Novo Nordisk’s biggest market and tariffs would kill them. Where else are you going to find such a big and fat country lol

      Except it is not the Danish government that sells Ozempic. If Denmark was a totalitarian state then maybe the government could take control of the exports or something.

      With the new Fascist regime in the USA everyone thinks that other countries automatically switch to dictator-mode, but luckily this is not how it works.

      Novo Nordisk isn’t going to slash prices, so the American consumers will pay the tariffs (extra tax on goods coming into a country).

      I just don’t get it. Here in Brasil we pay 200 dollars for ozempic / wegovy. Why do they charge US so much? I always bring some to my mom when I go visit.

      It’ll just mean drug prices go up in the US – they’re already utterly insane anyway. It’s not like another 25% is going to make much difference.

      Won’t be Trump getting screwed, and his promises to reduce healthcare costs etc were all just utter b/s that much is very clear.

      I bet in case Novo Nordisk uses it’s monopoly to raise the prices of its drugs sharply, suddenly Trump will allow American companies to make their own versions of Ozempic and the like.

      Novo isn’t going to cut into ozempic profits, NA is already a market where you can get away with basically anything and it’s not like NA consumers aren’t going to buy, the consumers will eat the tariffs and Novo Nordisk will probably invest heavily (hit they already are) into Ozempic production in NA, and the extra capacity they have spent billions making in Denmark will be used for the rest of the worlds market.

      Novo Nordisk’s legal monopoly on Semaglutide is just that, a matter of legality that could at any moment be easily dispensed with. The US already has allowed compounded Semaglutide to be legally sold on a temporary basis. It would be easy to go one step further and deny patent protection to Novo Nordisk entirely.

      People on here still missing the fact that Trump is promoting lawlessness, and will probably have one of his billionaire buddies in the pharma industry sell a copy of the drug in the US without any regard to patents. It’s the whole point of his tariff strategy.
