The whole thing does not reflect well on “the parish” of Kildimo as some auld cunt of a farmer put it to the victim.

Imagine being subjected to a life threatening beating without any cause whatsoever then being shunned because of it.

The Hayes sound like bullies too, beyond their extremely violent nature, which can manifest at the drop of a hat. Obviously nobody has ever stood up to them. Ciaran Ryan did after this and the courts did and hopefully that’s not the end of it either.

And maybe instead of kowtowing to them the community down there could demand some basic civilised standards from them. Not doing so has led to this with the club and the parish’s name blackened and 2 of their favourite sons in prison, with a third a real possibility.

Disgusted and as a GAA member I’m particularly disgusted by the actions of the club.

Ciaran expressed frustration that Cian Hayes received only a two-year sentence for an offence that left him with a 50/50 chance of survival. He compared it to a shoplifting case just before his case where the offender got the same sentence, highlighting what he sees as an unfair justice system. He also noted that the perpetrators never apologized despite having ample opportunity.
