Why do most police officers in Czechia wear heavy tactical gear, while some are in standard uniforms?

The first photo you posted are the actual police. The second one are definitely strippers.

its not bullet proof vest, its tactical vest – just to hold all their gear…. Its practical… thats why.

There is a big difference between the state police who solve serious things like violent crimes and the city police who hand out parking tickets and comes when you play loud music past 22:00.

The same reason as in the US. Corruption. It makes sure the police money flows to the right pocket.

The heavily armed officers are “first line” officers, usually being dispatched to all cases involving active violence up to and including active shooter.

The other officers are “patrol officers”. If they encounter anything more serious than a case of bad parking, they will hunker down and call for backup…

Not all areas of the country require the heavily armed officers in the first picture.

    6. Apparently both of those uniforms are allowed according to the regulations.

The main reason why some wear vests/plate carriers and some don’t is because it isn’t standardized meaning most folks just buy and use their own gear and then it’s up to each officer to decide. Sure you can carry everything on your belt but if you want to carry more stuff it’s better to have a vest of some sorts.

Also you might encounter the highway/road patrol (dopravní policie) who wear white polo shirts and white hats while travelling in a car.

My friend wears the tactical gear and he is usually called to cases where “hands on” approach might be needed.

      Usual suspects are homeless/junkies/violent thugs.

    8. The heavy armored guys patrol the problematic areas where there is a lot of gipsies and other high crime citizens

    9. While some of these comments are right they are also wildly wrong.

There are two main types of uniform “služební stejnokroj” is the blue one and “služebně-pracovní” is the black one. Both of them can have accessories like vests and armour – these can vary upon the individual officers own choice, their placement in police structure and other variables.

Now in cities the police officers you see in the streets mostly wear the black uniforms because they function purely or mostly as first responders.

Blue uniforms can mostly be see in the country side because the police the function both as first responders and as the people filling our paperwork.

But even these aren’t firm rules. Choice between the two uniform types can vary between “kraje”, “okresy” and “obvody” (different governmental bodies) and even between officers in the same department as some are allowed to pick and choose between which uniform they prefer.

The black “tactical” uniform is usually preferred between officers because it’s a bit more practical and frankly lot cooler.

Overall It’s a poorly organized mess and uniform types aren’t too enforced which results in a lot of variability.

Source: I’m a police officer who mostly wears the blue uniform type.

They feel like intimidating tough guys in their tacticool cosplay shit, when they’re giving you a parking ticket.

The not armoured, I doubt they have bulletproof vests, just normal vest for holding all the gear.
