CIAO! Sono un palo e recentemente ho visto questo video sul canale YouTube dell’UNESCO;

    La canzone a partire dalle 1:49 mi ha colpito dalla sua singolare bellezza e non riesco a smettere di pensarci, ma non riesco a trovarla. Il fatto che non conosca nessuno che parli georgiano non aiuta. Qualcuno conosce la canzone o la registrazione? Di cosa si tratta? Grazie in anticipo!

    Looking for a recording!

      “Khasanbegura” is a traditional Georgian folk song originating from the Guria region. It narrates the story of Hasan Beg Tavdgiridze, a Georgian prince who defected to the Ottoman side during the Crimean War (1853–1856). The song reflects the complex historical context of Georgia’s relationship with the Russian Empire, as Georgia was part of the Russian Empire at that time. Depending on one’s perspective, Tavdgiridze could be viewed either as a traitor or as someone resisting Russian occupation.

      Musically, “Khasanbegura” is notable for its intricate polyphony, a hallmark of Georgian folk music. The harmony and movement within the song are exceedingly complex, making it one of the most elaborate and challenging genres to perform. The song is traditionally performed with three independently led voices, often featuring antiphonal singing, where two groups alternate in performance.

      Over time, “Khasanbegura” has been interpreted by various ensembles, including the Choir of Makvaneti and the Zedashe Ensemble, each bringing their unique style to this historical piece.
