my “favourite” one is next to Molly Malone statue, it’s such an obvious straight in to your face, out of place advertisment.

They provide the Dublin Bike scheme in exchange for advertising, and their ads were being blocked, seems fair enough really.

Isn’t it amazing how at the age of environmental consciousness, companies get higher priority on something as “useful” as advertising. This is how you get concrete steel jungle in the end.

Soemthing needs to be done about Eir puting in new “phone boxes” that funny enough are covered in ads.

I’d be interested in knowing how much Dublin Bus get for bus ads too. I’d love if we could just get rid of them and start making Dublin pretty and not plastering ads everywhere.

While the headline seems crazy at first, when you dig into it it’s not.

      >JC Decaux struck a ‘bikes for billboards’ deal with the council in 2006 whereby it operates the successful Dublin Bikes scheme on the council’s behalf, in return for public space to erect its billboards and brightly lit digital displays called “digipanels”.

They are essentially paying the council for these locations by operating the bike scheme. The council can’t then turn around and block the site lines.

    6. What a ridiculous deal for running the scheme.

Advertisement is a plague. Shouldn’t be supporting it either taxpayer money.

End the arrangement with them end of contes t. It’s running a bike scheme. Plenty of operators out there where we don’t need to run advertisement everywhere.

It’s gross and they should be removed

Numerous corners around Dublin with the trees actually hampering road users visibility at corners and junction, they’d be far better taking them trees down for visibility.
