It is so strange when people are proudly saying that they are psychopaths (without empathy).

Generally scientists thought that 1% of people are psychopaths… in the USA this seems to be around 50-60%.

China exported 488.8 million worth of rare metals 2024. At that rate it would be a cool 1000 years of china exports to cover that amount….

Edit* I have to be missing something, full export market value is only a couple billion a year

    3. Ah war profit. Why not, prey on the victim that is Trump motto

    4. The key part here is that many/most of these resources are located in areas of Ukraine currently occupied by Russia. As demonstrate and insane as Trump is, I think even Ukraine will see this as victory since this would basically make the U.S. commit to Ukraine reclaiming these lands.

hopefully Ukraine does not go for this deal. They will get royally fucked by the US

The Afghanis learned this lesson, the Kurds learned the lesson, the Ukrainians are learning it right now and the Taiwanese will learn it soon: If you trust the Americans, you are on your own as soon as they got what they wanted.

Putin had to give up Assad, the US has their interests in the middle east covered, now Ukrain needs to step up what they are willing to pay. If the Taiwanese think, the US can hold an Island on the doorsteps of China, they better watch closley.

If you sign a contract under duress, is that even legally binding?

And he would probably offer 2 bullets and a gun for that.

      demands rare earths for Ukraine
rare earths located in the east
rare earths located in the middle of the battle ground
the same rare earths desperately needed by the russians
ukraine: sure, come and get them

I love the picture that Politico chose for this article.

This is straight up Doctor Evil kind of demands, I miss the pinky and evil laugh…

    12. Savings-Wrap8783 on

If you demand 500B, than you should provide 500B worth of weapons with no strings attached, no?

    13. Mormegil1971 on

Zelenskyy has been dangling this before the US, the article says.

Man, he is shrewd to wait until after the election. Then Trump can hail it as the bestest, yugest deal of the world history of deals, as much as he wants.

Then, after the war is over, Ukraine has joined NATO and the EU and built up the military, who is to say that a new government will follow that deal, if they don’t want to. The US itself isn’t that hot on honoring deals…just ask the kurds.

    14. CynicPhysicist on

I saw someone comment on another of these posts that Ukraine should offer the 500B rights as a “warpot/bounty” to be split among the donaters by contribution to the war effort when russia is defeated. With some extra gimmicks in the law, like no rewards if Ukraine has to give up territory, and that the size gross size of the pot shrinks in a prolonged conflict, it could potentially align the wargoals of the west to properly break the back of the invaders?

Idk. this kind of gamification would allow not giving up all the mineral rights to the US unless they actually help by a massive amount. If they turn out not to offer any significant aid, then maybe some other countries will want a piece of that pot. Game theory in a nutshell

      America has lost its face.

His predecessors are turning in their graves. I remember one day when America was about justice and liberty, when those who had power used it for the greater good. Now it’s just a sad shell of its former self, with idiots like this man in charge.

I’m 100% sure that if men such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt were alive today, they’d dispose of this fool, put him in jail where he belong along with his rich friends, and truely make America Great Again.

Congratulations America, I’m not saying Harris was going to be a strong president, but even dogshit would be better to have than this man.

the next demand is going to be the resetlement of 2 milion gazan palestinians into ukraine

    17. Giulio_Andreotty on

Dude didn’t even wait a full month from his kick off to drop the mask. It really amazes me, not joking.

First the Ukraine war that with him would stop in 24h, then the bullshit that he’s dropping about Gaza. I’m just too happy for all those Muslim that voted for him in support to the resolution of the conflict, just to see that he wants to buy Gaza to make it into a resort.

      It’s just top notch comedy.

    18. for who is he demanding it for? I can’t really comprehend as US is fully capitalistic and doesn’t have state owned mining companies. Besides, in this world anyone can have ownership of this. Like, the largest rare earth producer, American MP Materials has almost 10% ownership from Chinese government.

Which mining company would then get the rights for rare earth minerals in Ukraine? How does this demand actually work?

    19. AstraMilanoobum on

I mean, this seems like a no brainer.

Most of these are located in Russian occupied areas, in order for this deal to matter Ukraine would have to win.

As much as trumps an evil piece of shit, it’s not like Europe couldn’t have made this deal… or stepped up support for their fellow Europeans a while ago. I certainly see the logic from Zelensky, if Ukraine loses most of those are gone anyways, if they win the US will likely help rebuild the areas if for no other reason than to get the resources and they can always try to renegotiate with the next administration. Literally nothing to lose from Zelensky’s PoV

    20. iboreddd on

Can someone explain what is the rare earth he’s talking about?

    21. rantheman76 on

Wasn’t he impeached for extorting Ukraine? It can be done again.

    22. Uncle_Lion on

“Oh, we can’t give you that much! Would be 5 mil OK?”

      “Well, OK_. DEAL!”

That kid has no understanding of number, business, oh… anything.

    23. The stuff in currently Russian occupied territories? Go get em. Even if (and it’s a big if) Ukraine can reclaim that land, it will be years and years into the future unless Trump actually goes all-in, removes all restrictions from Ukraine weapons use, and probably still needs to put US boots on the ground. Most likely needs to place US military for peacekeeping in the area afterwards to prevent Russia from invading again. This would be better than NATO membership for Ukraine.

    24. Nebuladiver on

He could have taken lead and cooper but no… and now we’re stuck with this bully moron.

    25. So pretty much what the US has been already doing, he is now just saying it out loud.

Or did you people really think supporting Ukraine was about freedom/democracy? Please.

    26. Frankly speaking, I did expect something like this as an outcome of your election guys but this shit is surreal. This is a same kinda shit russsia already is doing to us but worse. Robbing the poor nation that has already been robbed of most of its resources (titanium, coal for steel production, most of rare earth minerals, gas, and 40 percent of fertile land is no longer usable). Without any possibility to strive again? Like a modern day slavery for generations to come? What a fucking twat. I do hope Europe will take over from states as they are seeing russians as security risk. And they fucking should. If we fall, they will have those cunts at their borders within weeks. And that’s not mentioning the refugee crisis that will inevitably occur.

    27. Rosu_Aprins on

Might as well demand Kiyv to become a US state for 99 years since we’re doing crazy asks.

    28. Vast_Category_7314 on

Sure, if you provide enough firepower to liberate all russian occupied territory and you provide security gurantees that will keep Russua away………..

It’s truly a plot twist that Ukraine might be saved by the fact that the rare earths are located in the eastern part of the country.

    29. alligatorislater on

Just a reminder that trumps first impeachment was for trying to blackmail Ukraine.

Looks like the lack of consequences strikes again!
