    1. They don’t really care about actually getting new nuclear power plants. The idea is just to slow down renewables, to keep the dependency on fossil fuels longer – because they are too lucrative.

The decision was made (with public approval), the ship has sailed.

The approval and build process of new reactors (together with training new operators) is easily going to take 25 years+ and cost 5-10x more than expected. Everyone who tells you otherwise is not telling the whole truth.

Nuclear power always comes with risk, a small error will be catastrophic. Any engineer or scientist can tell u, its impossible to build the 100% fail proof system. There will be always human error. Renewables will build a healthy, sustainable, low-tech supply chain with a lot jobs.

Recently, my neighbor started ranting at me about nuclear energy and the Greens without even knowing the basics. I know that the main driver behind the nuclear phase-out wasn’t cost or emissions but the fear of a big BOOM. Some argue that the lifecycle and utilization of nuclear power are the main issues, but gas-powered electricity plants have a similar lifespan and produce far more emissions.

The point is, if we, as a society, made a decision to phase out nuclear energy and shut down all power plants, there’s no going back. These things are incredibly complex and extremely expensive to build. I don’t understand why politicians keep pushing nuclear back. It was hydrogen couple of years back now it’s nuclear

“Honest Government Ad” – you need to be really gullible to fall for this shit. Honest people don’t use the word “honest”, because for them that goes without saying.
