The idea of state funded art makes me want to puke in my mouth a little bit
Never has this country paid so much tax and gotten so little in return. We make jokes about the FFG goverment setting our money on fire, but it’s going somewhere. And there’s a lot of very rich people profiting from the current system.
When the hard times come, and they will come, when FDI taxes become an issue, what will we have to show for it?
Story won’t go anywhere unless people can blame the current government.
Our tax subsidizes state sponsored fuck ups.
What was the system for though? Surely just install windows/MS Office or run everything off of it or google office suite. I get having unique systems for things (eg tax, tax ticketing) but what were they doing!
Has anyone an idea what the IT system was and how far along it got before it got shit canned.

This is obviously a massive waste of money but I’d be concerned about what he’ll do as part of an overall review of the Arts Council.
Wonder how many organisations applied for the tender, should be published somewhere – can anyone find? I’m lazy.
IT system and public sector go together like nitro and glycerine.
Excuse to reduce funding to the arts council as expected are coming in. Plan is to divert as much as possible to sports facilities in FF td constituencies that will be built on contracts that print crazy money for the boys and might be 1/4 way done and 5 x over budget by the next election. So many of the fun events or festivals or workshop or nice things in libraries and schools and community centres are completely reliant on the arts council and they get incredibly value for money with workers already working for far below living wage per hour. Most of the funding goes into community work that is incredibly important. Ireland will be a much more miserable and difficult place to live in if the funding is cut in any way because all the facilities people take for granted are barely holding on.

ON T&M consultants will just burn money as the budget will be never ending…..
Now. For what’s it worth. I work in the arts and have an IT background. I have uses this system and been voicing my criticism over it for a few years.
I’d call it a half finished good idea. I can see the potential. Some changes are great but it isn’t finished it is a Frankenstein of the old one and the new one.
It is a huge waste bit this one isn’t all on the Art council. The are the Arts Council. Not the IT Council. I doubt they had the internal expertise of the oversight to stop or question it.
There’s IT consultation groups are extremely predatory by nature and just suck up money if you let them.
It was about 2018-2019 we seen the first new implementation of the system the what happened in 2020? The locks downs and everything there a spanner in the works. What was seemingly on was path to another year or so completion go delayed and stretches out and resources creep consumed everything. I see exactly how it happened.
I’m not defending this but when you break downt he numbers it’s 6 million over 6 years. IT services ain’t cheap. I can see most of that going ok basic operation costs. I can see a big chunk being setting things for remote work.
Given the other outrageous spending that has gone unchecked by the government this seems like a sacrificial lamb because gutting the Arts Council like Elon Musk can see seen as a win as opposed to dealing with housing or lowering rents.
One had to ask why the Arts council needs an “IT system”
