Ehi, canadese qui che vive in Germania. Ho visto l’AFD appena inviato 30.000 volantini alle case immigrate a Karlsruhe. L’odio immigrato è piuttosto dilagante con un buon pezzo della popolazione. Questo odio è diretto esclusivamente su una base razziale o si estende agli immigrati da ogni paese? È una cosa terribile nel suo insieme, ma prenderei fortemente in considerazione di tornare a casa da solo, quindi non vorrei essere da qualche parte che non ho voluto. (So che più tedeschi sono anche contro questo genere di cose, ma comunque). Qualche intuizione?

As always with right -wing heretics, there are good and bad immigrants. Which ones are currently depends on the time of day and the weather forecast.
The in-group will continue to narrow and the out-group broaden so for now they say it’s “illegals” (and by extension people who look like they might be “illegal”) but soon enough it’ll be more

Against criminals and illegals, just like it is in every other country except Germany but most wouldn’t understand it and don’t accept it. I say it was first of all Merkels fault when she opened the borders in 2015

I did some digging only to discover that “anti-immigration” has become a euphemism for “anti-Islam” here.
Their rhetoric is pretty focused on non-westerners and specifically on people from Muslim countries.
It changes. Back in the day it was also directed against Poles, Italians or Vietnamees. During Covid harrasment was also directed toward Asians. Now it’s mainly BIPOC and people identified as Muslims.
If everything fails they go back to hating the poor and unemployed.
They will always find a way to hate *somebody*.
It is against the kind like the one who drove today a car over innocent pedestrians in Munich.

AfD is not only right-wing but also populist. You cannot trust anything they say.
I find it pretty disgusting that there are such a significant number of people who would do this and that such targeted harassment is not illegal.
How innocent of you to believe that their hate is directed to actual immigrants. They just want everybody that “doesn’t look german” to at best leave the country and at worst…well. They are incredibly dumb, in case you haven’t noticed.
While it’s certainly brown and, sometimes, Eastern European people who get them riled up, the AfD’s policies and what they intend to pass if given power are certainly not limited to just certain immigrants – as long as there are AfD voters in rural Saxony who are unemployed, the AfD will fight against immigration of all sorts.
The illegal and criminal ones.
Last I checked it’s only one group of people who are driving cars into crowds.

You can never be sure about any distinction you might want to put on it. If they succeed with the first targets it will be very easy to extend the scope for whatever they identify next as a “problem” which needs to be “solved”.

Started out with a general problem with arabic cultures, especially those who value the islam. (Think PEgidA, early days of AfD) Ever since then it expanded and now they are singing a generalized “Ausländer raus” to a shitty, albeit catchy, musictrack.

Their hate is mostly directed towards non-white people, primarily because one cannot differentiate between white people’s ethnicities just by looking at them. However, once they are done with all the POCs, they will come for the non-Germans.
For now, Muslims. Later, who knows?
If everything didn’t improve after they got rid of the non-Westerners, you’d be their next target.
Idk why you ask these things? Any kind of anti immigration legislation will affect you as well, even if it’s against, let’s say people who were refused refugee status. Same with anti immigration attitudes.
But, as a white immigrant myself, I’m not too concerned at the moment, honestly economic outlook scares me more. We will see what will happen after elections
As a non-white westerner, I’ve always assumed they’re not going to differentiate between me and the other people that look exactly like me but are from another continent.
That being said, call me crazy, but I don’t think I’d exactly take comfort in being “one of the good ones” if they were making the distinction anyways.
They are just finger pointing on all kind of groups which they thing are responsible for all kind of stuff.
Corona? Asians
Jobs? East European
Mentally ill people killing others? Arabic looking people + all Muslims
Inflation? EU itself
War in Ukraine? Nato
Middle east conflict? Jews
Climate change? A lie by a hidden ruler, but probably Jews
Depending on the topic everyone can be blamed sooner or later.
Its they role in the politics system: Something is not perfect? Others are responsible.
And they defend all they hate with free speech.
So… what are they expecting? Let’s suppose every single one of the so called immigrants leave the country (even the ones who have learned the language, integrated and contributing to the german economy), are they expecting to resurrect the third Reich? Somehow make Germany an hyper advanced human race country with flying cars?
If they win, would all the companies just fire their international employees? Deutsche Bahn will start running on time? Help me understand please. What’s their end goal?
The resentment is primarily directed at North African and Arab Muslims, as this is the group of migrants that is most problematic across Europe. For the most part, there are no problems with North or South Americans or East Asians in Europe, so the debate is basically not about them.

Right wing ideology was never gone, but with the current international climate, not to mention the far-left ideologies forcefully pushed down on everybody, got reignited.
People are getting poorer, cost of living going up, food more expensive => they search for something/someone to blame. Instead of directing this sentiment against the rich, which caused this mess actually, they focus on immigrants.
