Good. The US is not Ukraine, and Ukraine **must** be involved in any discussion about a ceasefire or an end to the war caused by russia.

    2. Mors_Umbra on

And neither should he. This is their fight, their future, and it needs to be conducted on their terms. russia or anyone else cannot be allowed to dictate terms.

america needs to be entirely sidelined from discussions if they don’t want to help, and Europe needs to fully commit, none of this half-house bullshit.

    3. Good_Cow237 on

Of course no one should negotiate Ukraine’a position.
The solution is very simple. Dementia Don could’ve fulfilled his promise to end the war in 24 hours if Russia would just get the F out. Putin needs to be held accountable for all the death and destruction he has caused. And hell no, there should be no land given to Russia.
The entire world should give the weapons needed to Ukraine to just destroy Putin and Russia. End of story.

    4. Nor should he. Ukraine should be preparing for a post-America reality. Focus on EU membership and build up that Ukrainian military industrial complex. Be the “US” of Europe when this is done. The country all the others look to for defense and support.

    5. faceintheblue on

And why would he? No one is negotiating with the best interests of Ukraine in mind. What is decided about Ukraine without Ukraine in the room is not anything done with Ukraine’s consent.

Does everyone remember when Trump negotiated with the Taliban without included the Afghan government in the talks? How did that work out? Now imagine Trump’s entire political career had already been strangely, suspiciously aligned with the best interests of the Taliban, as has been the case with Putin.

This isn’t the United States negotiating with Russia to find the best settlement for Ukraine. This is Trump doing what Putin wants. Ukraine has no reason to respect any decisions made in these talks. In fact, they would be crazy to do so.

Europe should unite as a new ‘superpower’ and unify in a similar way to how the US functions. A United States of Europe, Ukraine, you’re welcome to join.

The US can piss off. They don’t mind illegally invading the middle east but side with Russia against Europe? They’re no longer our allies.

I think this is just a formality that Zelensky has to say to reassure his people due to everyone talking about “Trump and Putin having a phone call”. Obviously everything depends on what Ukraine wants to do. They’re the ones defending their country with an army that has the most defensive and modern, pier vs pier battle experience than any in the world right now. I mean Ukraine “having its say” is exactly why there is a fucking war right now and why Russia didn’t walk all over them. They literally told powerful dictators and grifters to “go fuck themselves”. I have no idea what’s going on behind closed doors but I do not doubt in the slightest Ukraines input in what happens next.

      rightfully so!
This is about ukrainan freedom and ukranian lives!
We all have to stay strong in our support for freedom and liberty of the US wannabe king wants to abandon Ukraine!

      Good!

Sadly, we’re going to see exactly how limp Europe is. It is utterly pathetic that the UK and EU cannot step up.

    11. vladutuk on

Europe, if it knows what is good for it should IMMEDIATELY send troops in Ukraine. Even if its not to the front lines. But to do all the other work needed to be done. Securing border with Belarus, maintenance, logistics, evacuations, etc. So the Ukrainians can focus on the fight. Of course there will be causalities, but hey, it’s a war. If we do not do this NOW, we will blead a lot in the years to come.

And Zelensky shouldn’t even have to say this out loud.

God, Trump and Putin are so dumb…

    13. F_in_Idaho on

No matter what, DO NOT BELIEVE OR TRUST TRUMP as if your life depended on it.

Czechoslovakia was told to obey the will of the great powers in the fall of 1938 without even consulted. Taking over key military assets from Czech territory without a fight boosted Germany’s strength and paved the way for the assault on Poland (strongly aided by RuSSia) a year later.
Europe CAN & MUST support Ukraine’s just battle against the RuSSian yoke without any support from the American Quislings.

I feel like if Ukraine let’s two foreign powers dictate their peace terms, they are effectively relinquishing their statehood.

There is a risk that if Ukraine and EU do not follow this Putin/Trump pact, and Ukraine keeps fighting for its survival, that USA joins the war on Russia’s side to enforce their secret agreements.
