I think the opposition will try to block this resolution.
The background of it is the German debt brake (“Schuldenbremse”). By declaring the war an emergency our government would be able to take on new debt in order to fight the emergency (which would be a good thing).
The catch is that the conservatives and “liberals” (aka conservatives in sheep‘s clothing) are in love with the debt brake. It is part of their identity.
So please expect some strange political maneuvering. I guess the opposition will try to postpone a vote until after the election, which would take a few months until the new parliament is in session and a government has been formed.
Does the State of Emergency allow supplying Taurus? No? Pity. Scholz will be gone in a few weeks.
