This was always a thing. I remember sending videos to lads via Bluetooth on the back of the bus.
Obviously it’s a lot more ramped up now. Children’s brains have developed differently growing up with the phone at their fingertips 24/7
All we had back in the day was a water-damaged copy of Razzle hidden under a rock.
My kids only 17 months old but I am already dreading the day she gets a phone, to much shite for developing minds to handle.
Having worked in telecoms over the years in retail and office based, the amount of people buying 7/8/9yo kids the latest iPhone or Samsung is scary. Spending 2k on two phones for kids that age is mental.
I really hope things change, ideally I’d have my kid rocking a firefly phone with just my wife and my number on it.

Once again, anyone who gives their children a phone/tablet before 14 is a complete maniac.
I rember being in first year and showing up with a load of porn that I had found blowing in the wind on the dual carriage on my way to school one morning.
Give them a 3ds and you’ll still find porn on it , anything that has a Internet connection without it blocks can access porn ,
I have a 15 year old and a 12 year old. 15 year old got a phone at 13 out of necessity, but we heavily restricted it and put Family Link on, checked it regularly to see what he was up to. Nowadays, we don’t check it as much, but we still restrict the amount of time he can use it for, what apps he has and for how long. It’s a good balance.
The 12 year old is constantly banging on about wanting a phone and feels she’s entitled to it just because he got it at 13. We’re not even sure that she’s ready for a phone and want to hold off for longer because we’ve seen sometimes how she speaks with some kids on the tablet (which again is heavily restricted) and we think a phone is far too early for her maturity level.
We constantly hear from them about how other kids have had unrestricted phone access for years. Some of them up all night with it, access to porn etc. Even heard how a 12 year old has an “18 year old boyfriend”. It’s absolutely obscene. I just can’t fathom giving either of them access like that and at such young ages.
Parents today don’t give a fuck. They’re entirely to blame because they’re lazy cunts.
How many young kids have phones/tablets with no parental controls, because their parents don’t how to set it up or do not care, and they can go directly to PornHub etc? It’s scary.
Do any of our ISPs block adult content at the network level like they do in the UK?
Parents aren’t willing so the government needs to step in.
Ban all smart phones for under 18s. If a child needs a phone for contact, which is fair enough, there are ‘dumb’ phone models out there.
If a child is caught with a smartphone then fine the parents.
While it’s not great that kids are sharing pornography, this was always a thing. I was the only girl in my group of friends and the lads would forever be sending shit on MSN messenger to each other or trading actual magazines. I’d argue in a lot of ways it was worse. They would find videos from Al Queda and the Iraq war and send it round too to freak their mates out. The biggest issue with phones is the fact that it’s at your fingertips 24/7 and all age groups are guilty and equally affected. From kids sharing porn to Grandparents sharing shitty AI of why the immigrants are to blame.
Run the “gobshite” test. If your son or daughter is an absolute moron don’t give them a phone. If they have a head on their shoulders and are nice humans then go for it.
