Something about all of pictures having her look so happy combined with the fact she was just found in a field, makes this especially harrowing to me.

So sad. Alt least justice was delivered for her family in the end.

Reading about her immediately reminded me about the Ana Kriegel case and also the murder of Jastine Valdez in Ireland

Women should absolutely under no circumstances be solo travelling in India currently, or possibly travel there at all. Sexual violence against women is massively on the rise and attackers increasingly emboldened, it’s very worrying scenario.

Travelled in India. Wonderful place for many reasons, even for all its problems. But yeah, if I was lone Western woman, or even a group of women, it’d be best to steer clear. It just isn’t wise, nor is it safe. Hopefully this family get a modicum of peace now.

I’m a big man and India isn’t safe, we met an English guy there with smashed teeth, he’d been robbed, he was wandering around looking for westerners to bum a n international phone call

It’s unfortunate but if any woman is thinking of travelling to India I recommend you watch India’s daughter.

The attitude toward women in India is awful.

For those who don’t know the documentary is about about Jyoti Singh, a 23-year-old medical student, who was gang-raped on a bus in Delhi after going to the cinema. The attackers were operating a fake bus to lure her on and then gang raped and beat her and literally ripped out her intestines.

Now think about this, the poor girl went on an innocent cinema date. Yet one of the defence lawyers literally said of her behaviour that night:

“If my daughter or sister engaged in pre-marital activities and disgraced herself, I would certainly take her to my farmhouse, in front of my entire family, and set her on fire.”

Imagine a defence lawyer coming out and saying that. That’s what women in the country have to deal with. And if you’re a white woman it’s even more deadly because they’re completely fetishised. The rape statistics there are through the roof and yet only a fraction of rapes get reported.

RIP Danielle. What a waste of a young life. I don’t notice any of the news stories reporting the sentence the murderer got?

We complain about India yet most women in Ireland will not leave the house alone after dark in Dublin…

A very tragic end for this woman. India is just not suitable for any woman travelling alone at this current time.
