      Top one might be worth a few quid to someone but I can’t imagine much

      The fiver id say is pretty much worth a fiver, they’re not that old

      I know them fivers were worth everything to me as a pup when I got my hands on one! God seeing this brought back some memories

      We had lovely notes and coins. Especially the coins, beauty in their simplicity.

      Not much. The collectors market for Irish currency wouldn’t be massive, I’d imagine. Condition plays a huge part for collectors and the slightest blemish will lower the value significantly.

      Frame them and mount them in a man cave or Prosecco palace which ever takes your fancy.

      Nice wee thing to have to show young kids further down the line.

      the most depressing thing is that they are barely worth the price of a pint.

      Nothing really. They are readily available on adverts pretty cheap. Best to just hold onto them for nostalgia.

      I doubt they’re worth much, hang onto them.

      I believe it’s only the higher notes that have value because not many people hung on to them. That’s just something someone said to me once though so I say that with no confidence or authority.

      Check out adverts.ie and southdublinauctions and numisbids.com. they’re in fair condition, you might get 10-12 euro forcthe pair of them. You are still entitled to walk into the central bank and ask forctheirxeuro equivalent.

      Fun fact (we’ll, fun fact in you collect coins or notes) the Irish central bank holds a few hundred million euro for all the old banknotes (ploughman pounds, 10 shilling notes and lavery notes) that have not been destroyed or handed back in for their euro equivalent.

      I personally thought the £20 from that time featuring Daniel O’Connell was THE most beautiful note we ever produced. Colours were lovely. Had to look at the whole collection and turns out I don’t recognise the £50 or £100 notes!

      Guess that explains it, that’s as high I got on the totem pole of finance back then lolz……

      There is a stall in the George’s arcade that sells stamps and coins if anyone else wants some of these ..

      Depends what town you’re from…there’s a few wallets in back pockets of a Friday night that haven’t had a hand in to spend them yet 😅
