Gotta say, as a Ukrainian, I’m realizing that I had so many unpleasant stereotypes about Serbians (mainly because of the whole “Russian are our closest brothers” thing), that are being broken in the last few month. It’s nice to see so many people stand up to the government.
Tomorrow, a large gathering is planned by the protesters in Kragujevac to celebrate statehood day Sretenje. Kragujevac was chosen as the location because thats where the first constitution of Serbia was written after liberation from the Turks in 1835, one of the most liberal constitutions in Europe at the time(which is why Serbia had to revoke it after a few days due to Austrian ultimatums). President Vucic planned a counter-celebration pro-government rally in Sremska Mitrovica, also for tomorow, with many people in the public sector being payed/threatened to attend.
