Of course they’re exploiting how dumb the US administration is being.

    2. Gold-Salary-8265 on

Europe is basically an abused spouse at this point.

    3. Tell them to remove there zombie army the North koreans out of Europe then.

    4. revengeful_cargo on

And in the mean time, they’re in Donbas working for Russia cleaning up Russia’s destruction and rebuilding

    5. Darkhoof on

Do they? While allowing Russia to manipulate the Tiktok algo to influence elections in Europe? I don’t think so.
It’s their loss as the EU with stable democracies would be the prime market for their EVs, batteries and solar panels. The lunatics that are propped up by Putin and Trump will actively persecute that.

    6. I want european hegemony not being other country’s sidekick.

    7. 0Tezorus0 on

Europe is the world biggest market. If the USA dumbassery is creating a void, of course China will try to fill it.

    8. At least it’s clear why r/Europe is transitioning into r/china

    9. fortytwoandsix on

EU should seek stronger cooperation with the remaining democratic countries, i.e. Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Australia etc

    10. Neltadouble on

At least with China we’d know what we’re getting, unlike with the US where our relationship is entirely thrown into disorder every 4 years depending on the whims of the American voter.

    11. digitalttoiletpapir on

Is that why they send their “wolf-warrior” diplomat Lu Shaye to the EU?

    12. So far US vs China was an easy choice because a democracy was more agreeable than a dictatorship/autocracy. Trump made sure to blur the lines by speedrunning the US descent into oligarchy.

    13. koensch57 on

Let’s invite the Chinese Navy for a hospitality visit……

    14. Corvo_of_reddit on

lol, but of course now Winnie the Poo is searching for an advantage.

They still are allies with ruZZia, fuck them.

    15. ProductGuy48 on

Our relation with China should be purely economic and we should not allow Chinese technology in sensitive areas. Beyond that though, if the Chinese want more trade and the US wants to deal more with Putin than with us, then we should deepen economic ties with China.

One thing that China won’t do and can’t do is invade us, unlike Russia or the US.

    16. RedBaret on

Before the age of humiliation we’d been trading partners with the Chinese for more or less 2000 years. The global accent only switched towards the Americas in the past 150 years, but it’s artificial and based upon the growth, colonization and alliance with said Americas. Let’s get back to the old model shall we?

    17. PxddyWxn on

China sees us like it sees a developing country in Africa lol. A busy opportunity.

This is where Europe is headed.

    18. ahjaokay on

I never thought I would say this, but among Russia, America and China, China is currently by far the least evil.

    19. China want to do trade and considering how bleak the near futur seems for the average US consumer i think China trying to normalise relations with the EU is just a pragmatical choice for them.

It just sadden me that this will without a doubt make some peoples believe that we can continue getting away with importing so many manufactured goods.

    20. c_cristian on

Maybe China fears the potential withdrawal by the US of troops and billions of USD from Europe could be directed against them afterwards.

    21. ben_bliksem on

Ever feel like you are the “new best friend” during a couple’s fight?

    22. Authoranders on

To be honest. Why deny this deal? Europe needs china aswell, and they have never fucked us over in the same degree usa has.

    23. fazzonvr on

The Devil you know. Fuck it, if the orange trumpet wants this, then he gets this.

    24. Lennyleonard_ on

Don’t we feel special now, China has called us pretty and that we are way too good for America……they promise to treat us right not like those Mericans. It’s nice to feel wanted again lol

    25. nebuerba on

So if I get this all is goed buying cheap shit from China and wait until they invade Taiwan?

    26. ntropy83 on

Loosing China as the industrial work bench for cheap goods with tariffs or other dumb ideas, may hit the US hard. I am sure this administration wont last a year before an uprising.

Chiba will be a good partner to have when the time comes to defend ourselves against America

    28. SwiftDeposal on

Europe needs to take a self reflective look. Even a fully self sustained Europe, at any time, is unrealistic but getting to a level where it can function as a strong unit will take time.

Europe needs to diversify and spread themselves. The USA is doing what it’s doing on the bet Europe will come crawling back, that can’t happen. China isn’t pure but we need multiple partners, multiple allies, trading blocks and the ability to create competition and they need China for that

    29. NoTicket4098 on

We need to play US vs China the same way Yugoslavia played West vs East during the Cold war.

Don’t commit to any one side, extract concessions from both.

    30. 6852608863576 on

Can I tell you what I think? China is supplying blood to Russia. If Europe wants the threat from Russia to disappear, it should be independent and reduce its dependence on China. It is urgent to revive Europe’s heavy and light industries. In order to revive industrial environmental protection, it can be put aside for a while. I hope Europe can relax economic policy controls and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. Reducing dependence does not mean that business will not be done, but it will be reduced gradually. Otherwise, if China keeps transferring foreign exchange, it can continue to provide assistance to Russia. It is impossible for Europe to supply blood to Russia through the CCP while trying to avoid the threat from Russia.

The CCP’s goodwill towards Europe is because China hopes to dump more goods to Europe, which can alleviate overcapacity. It would be better if it can further control the European economy, so that it can control Europe’s right to speak against the United States.

Europe should be independent and self-reliant, and cannot rely entirely on China if it still feels that it is a force rather than a vassal of a major power. These are some of my humble opinions. You may have known them long ago. I am just kind-hearted. I hope you will not be angry if there is anything wrong.

Threats of invasion from the USA on allies: 2-3
Threats of invasion by China on ANY european or canadian interest: 0

      Let’s make a deal!

    32. WillistheWillow on

China is also soaking up all the soft power that the US is willingly giving up in the Middle East and Africa.

    33. Futurismes on

We should start becoming a superpower before we become complacent again and stop investing in defense or AI again because we’re ’friends’ with a large economy that is willing to spend billions in research.

    34. Bringing China closer would put pressure on Russia too, seeing as how the EU is a much, much more beneficial business partner for China.

Also seeing as how the US is burning all bridges, the EU can’t be left alone. I don’t suggest we sell everything to China, but there is definitely potential for growth having closer ties with China.

    35. ThingsStrange on

EU should seek security guarantees from China now since the US have abondoned us. Maybe Donald Musk would reconsider his stance then.

    36. Besbrains on

To be honest at this point I’m more willing to trust china than the US. They seem to prioritize growth and stabilny way more than whatever trump and his band of virgins are doing

    37. nerokae1001 on

Russia is waging war against europe and china is russia biggest ally. Drop support for russia, condemn the war in ukraine and drop all pro russia propaganda then we can talk. Xi‘s Winter Olympic was the only reason that Putin delayed the invasion. Its so obvious that Xi gave his blessing for the invasion.
