No F-35 for EU anymore. USA controls the program that made these planes fly, and because they clearly said that they will let Putin invade EU countries (and maybe invade EU themselves, staring with Greenland), F-35 should be ban. SCAF Program should be at the center of EU defense strategy now.

You are right, maybe We just could’t just imagine US and A will vote for Trump, again. Hopefully some EU countries has the military independence capable to defend itself. But your right, we should have not overestimated US education. Indeed, we had been warned.

    3. Belgium is stuck with american airplanes since they have American nukes on their territory and the US don’t want to see their nukes on *Edit:* *~~other~~* *non-certified planes. Certification probably require your plane to be well-known by the US and thus modern jet manufacturers don’t want to share infos*

Probably the same for Netherlands and Italy.

We need to rethink the nuclear umbrella of Europe, it is the perfect timing. Because the “if you want our nuclear protection, you need to buy our planes needs to stop now”

Saab Gripen, Dassault Rafale or EuroFighter? Hello? Buying American crap right now?

I don’t think people understand how much ahead f35 is compared to other aircraft. Most of the acquisitions were made many years ago and countries (especially smaller ones) can’t just pull the plug.

It’s a total mistake to buy American weapons and especially American planes since they are unable to fly without Americans giving the approval via software. In other words, it’s just a very expensive paperweight and given that we may be attacked by the Americans in the near future phasing out their equipment is a top necessity. Either buy European or nothing at all.

Are you certain those F-35 can fly and fight whenever required? Murica has a history of backdoors and bricking their systems when push comes to shove.

Calling the F35 crap when it’s far better than anything Europeans are producing and will produce for next decade is laughable. You guys really need to get your heads out of the cloud and live in the real world

While the U.S is unreliable, the F35 is still the best aircraft one can buy if they have the money.

Sadly our new minister of defence is a low-key Trump supporter.

F35’s were one of the worst decisions made in the last decade in hindsight.

We need to move to a mandated EU standard and made kit. Immediately.

We have 11 types of tanks in the EU alone not even sure that includes the UK, such wastage and reliance on the US while there is an existential threat we are sleep walking into.

Sweden is currently debating what will replace Gripen. Should we should develop our own next gen fighter jets, buy them from the US or develop them with EU countries.

I hope we keep doing it.

    13. stupendous76 on

After last week it is clear the US will drop us at the first chance. Trump will make those weapons unusable if he wants to so those weapons are effectively useless. Ditch them.
On the plus side: European made stuff is available though Europe should ramp the production up at the speed of light. Russia’s attack is in sight.

    14. CapableTest7258 on

Better buy something reliable, this is a junk that is crushing every week! Please buy European weapons not American!

    15. pointfive on

Time to get that European 5th generation fighter project out of the doldrums and back into the spotlight. How can we trust the Americans not to brick the F35 the moment we might need them?

    16. Cautious-Tax-1120 on

Drop in the bucket. EU doesn’t need more Frigates, but the 35s will help.

Guys you’re making nice gadgets while two countries with lots of nukes make politics you can’t even be a part of, except getting more instability and immigrants while helping the one that’s getting looted on daylight.
