Vengo dalle Fiandre. > can anyone give a summary of what has happened in Belgian politics over the past decade?

I mean, how long have you got?

What happened during the 2014-2019 government cycle is so far removed from today’s issues that you might as well not even bother.

      As for 2019-2024:

      * 2019: the usual garbage, weird new virus in China
      * 2020: oh shit, stay home, no toilet paper
      * 2021: ok go out again but wear a mask #TeamModerna “*can everyone see my screen?*”
      * 2022: war in ukraine, electricity price goes brrrrr
      * 2023: still war, more prices going brrrrr “*will they go down?*” businesses: lol no
      * 2024: palestine-israel again, protests and stuff, “no one wants to work”

They split BHV (Brussel-Halle-Vilvoorde) and everything has massively improved since!
People no longer vote undecisive in the centre, but now they have a clear vision and vote either extreme left or extreme right.

      /s in case that’s unclear 😉

As a fellow Belgian outside of Europe, I don’t vote. It is like the Turkish community in Europe voting en masse for Erdogan because well, they don’t have to live with the consequences. Voting should only be for those that live within the country or pay taxes to it.

Edit: I haven’t heard from my embassy yet. Let’s see

That’s so stupid (to make you vote). In few words, Vlaams Belang is 5x higher than it was 10 years ago, and the same with PTB in Wallonia. So, yeah, things are going great.
