So do what Trump has been telling them to do this whole time.

Almost all NATO nations have already reached the 2% of GDP defence spending.
Trump seems happier playing games with Putin than Europe or Ukraine anyway.

Poland being blind to Trump’s threats against Denmark is like Western Europe being blind to Putin’s threat against Poland. Eventually, pretty much everyone is blind, except the British and Macron.

He’s right. And everyone would be happy – America gets what they asked ( not necessarily what they wanted ), Europe gets safety it needed. Balance would be restored.

this guy is taking mostly german but also french and italian money aka EU funds and spends them buying bilateral protection from the US and now is lecturing his economic partners from which he benefits the most for a guy who takes money from him and gives him an illusion of protection :)) maybe germans and french should just do something else with the money…

Well Trump was telling NATO to increase military spending and energy and stop relying so much on Russian energy back during the 2016 term. And Trump saying same thing now.

Ah yes, buy shit from USA, get invaded by putler, have no assistance. USA gets money, putler gets land and slaves, the art of a deal. Sadly Poland didn’t learned from Commonwealth’s demise

Also don’t suck up to him and start communicating to your people that USA is not an ally, nor some sort of “freedom protector” as so many people in Poland **still** seem to think despite everything Trump, Vance and Musk are saying….

Also why is the USA propping up an EU country (ie. Ukraine)? I don’t think US should be involved in negotiations with Russia either.

It’s not just about spending 2% of GDP, it’s how inefficiently Europe spends it.
Does EU forget Libya and how US NATO allies (France/UK) were going to take the lead in any military action? That was a complete disaster because NATO can’t actually fight a war without the US. US Defense Secretary was pissed. This was from 2010. Nothings changed.
“All twenty-eight NATO allies voted to support the military mission in Libya, but just half provided some kind of contribution, and only eight actually provided aircraft for the strike mission. The United States had to provide the lion’s share of the reconnaissance capability and most of the mid-air refueling of planes; just three months into the campaign we had to resupply even our strongest allies with precision-guided bombs and missiles—they had exhausted their meager supply. Toward the final stages, we had to reenter the fray with our own fighters and drones.”

I don’t really get why that’s an issue. Been decades, why should NATO overly rely heavily on the US instead of most of NATO rely more individually/together collectively vs heavily on one country? Plus US been telling/asking NaTO to step up for a while. Trump did a lot himself in 2016 and currently. Increase defense and individual energy and decrease reliance on Russian energy.
Exclude Canada and US (removing Canada too just cuz it’s not in Europe), Europe has 30 NaTo members and around 600M people. Russia has like 140-150M.
Think Europe can handle that assuming neither Canada and/or US didn’t directly join? Hope so lol
